A 2000 will not start a 12000, so I doubt it would do a 10000. It will start a 5000 with no problem.

I heard there was a unit you could buy for the eu2000 that allowed the larger ac units to start. It may be some kind of capacitor to help with the starting load. But I can't kind any info?

I am a Honda Dealer and I have powered a 12,500 btu unit on my boat. I have probably sold 25-30 units to boaters just for this purpose. If you want one or need info, pm me or email me. [email protected]. I have sold at least 5 to OSO members in the last year or so.

My EU 2000 Honda would not start my 10000 btu air conditioner. The generator worked great on everything else. It is quiet and efficient.
Has anybody studied the Honda technology on how these generators work? This generator idles and puts out 115 volts in the economy mode.

Keith gave me a GREAT deal and the generator is awesome.

Works very well on our A/C, but I do not remember the BTU's.

He is working with me now on a larger generator. I did some research on the Honda web site and it explains the operation of the generator. Nice units!

I tried out my 2000 on my 5200 btu Mermaid m5 A/C and it worked great but when I flipped the switch for the battery charger the generator started to surge (hi-lo-hi-lo) and the ac compressor started clicking. How do you get your unit to power both? Do you turn on one appliance before the other??

mine just works.

I would try turning if off econo mode ( i think thats what it's called). It's the toggle switch on the front. power everything up, then see if you can switch the econo mode back on.
