Post For the love of God, do not buy a BMW

I have only had this car 18 months, 1997 328ic BMW conv. I swear every oil change something major has screwed up.
1. Not to mention $50 per oil change.

2. two rear left wheel bearings gone bad w/ in 10K miles of each other,

3. Conv top motor,

4. two oxygen sensors,

5. 1 air pump, what the hell is a air pump?????

6. Driving in this morning, air bag light comes on???? No reason 55mph straight road??

I hope you all avoid these anti Christ piece of chit cars.

27 Fountain - I haven't had the same problems that you have, but am not happy with BMW either.... their service is terrible (no loaner cars, etc.), nothing seems to be covered under warranty, and $50 oil changes? My dealer charges $100 for an "oil service" - I'm going back to Lexus/Infiniti - at least they know how to treat their customers....

Let me clarify, $50 if I take it to a BMW shop, $100 if I go to Dealer, learned that right off, and you have to use one or the other since they have to reset the on board computer.

BMW's Suck! They are seriously more trouble than they're worth. If you enjoy a lot of down time, quirky behavior, the ever-present dash-board light show then they are for you. They are like boats in a lot of ways...estimate the cost for something and then at least triple it.

We have a 2000 bmw m-3 6 speed 333 hp version. Hauls ass, 0-60 in 4.65 never had anything go wrong, but your right the damn oil changes are 79.00 at the dealer, ouch!!!
It only has 21,000 miles though, but has been great to us, going to trade it in next year for possibly a z-06 corvette 405hp.

I have had two BMW's and have never had a single problem out of either one of them yet.Did you buy your car used? If so that could be the problem, you never know about the previous owner.

Thumbs down

My BMW was great... but traded it for a Mercedes CLK 430, 2001... Fast Car, but one thing after another, never the same thing more than twice.. rent a wreck loaner cars, new transmission at 12,000 miles, last time they towed it in I told them to keep it, and bought an Infinity QX4... LOVE IT! They do not build Mercedes like they used to.

Ditto.

I have a 2001 330Ci and love it! It's one of the fatest naturally aspirated 6 cyl that I've driven and nothing compares to the BMW driving experience!
