My Trick Marine KPM strainers work too good.

So we had a camp out/ party at a local lake with nice sand beaches this weekend and the beach we chose was actually a large wash, for those who dont know what a wash is I will explain. A wash occours when water comes off the hills and mountains down the path of least resistence, all of these smaller streams converge into one large stream and head down into the reservoir. This is also where flash floods happen since it usually all happens at once ( the convergence).
Well where there is a wash there is also large amounts of silt and finer grains of sand and where we were was great for beaching and setting up so we did and partied like rockstars til 5 in the AM. Well unknown to me they were doing a mild release at the reservoir and we lost a bit of shoreline over the night and the boats were beached a little worse then I like too see. We couldnt push of so I lifted my drives to a safe height and pulled out, this beach is in a no wake zone about 100 yards or so and we puttered out to the buoy when I started getting an alarm on my starboard then port motors, i didn't kill the motors because it wasnt really that hot yet and I wanted to see if it would just work itself free. When I hit 190 I killed it and waited about 20 minutes and fired up again, still nothing, so I opened the KPM 9' strainers and checked em out and sure enough the silt had collected and compacted in the strainer mesh, I pulled the inserts and rinsed them in the lake and reinstalled and the water flowed like a champ after that.
Sometimes a product can work too well but now that I know the symptoms to look for it will only be a 5 minute fix from now on. Just thought I would share so it wouldn't happen too you.
