Personally I don't like BFG...I had 285/16 on when new, sold them used at 40k mi and put Goodyear on, what a big diff when I drove off. Noticed right away the first mile how better they were.
I would look at Bridgestone but they are not cheap either.

BFG All Terrain KO are the best tire out there, but pricy. I have the BFG Rugged Trail, not as pricy and not as aggressive. Check into Cooper Tires. They are GREAT quality. I had Copper Discoverer A/T on my truck for a long time and loved them. They don't make the A/T anymore, now replaced with the ATR.

Thanks,, Brian, they make the ATR in SL 4 ply ( 100.00) and E 10 ply, (140.00) @ mavis. The goodyears that are on there now are SL and have been o.k. just wondering if I should go w/ the heavier duty.. ?? opinions ????

I don't think you can have too much tire. I would go for the E-rated. They will give you less sway with towing. If they produce too rough of a ride, just air them down a hair.
I was turned on to Coopers via Jeff Jassby, aka Jassman. I have put a few posts up on tires in the past, and he always chimed in on them. He runs them on his fleet trucks AND his boat trailer. I was very happy with mine. I had them on for about 21000 miles, and decided to change up when I cut one bad, and could not replace with a like tire. (Had 3 good A/Ts, could not find a fourth). They had plenty of life left. If you look up Mama Tryed here on OSO, he can drop ship tires for a VERY good price as well, many brands.

I just had new tires put on my 2003 F-150. Had the same Goodyear RTS and got 51,000 miles out of them. I went to discount tire and had them installed at $498 out the door plus received a $50 rebate. Stay away from the Dunlop's. I put them on a Grand Cherokee a few years ago and was the worst tire for ride. Just a heads up I called 3 places and they started out at $720 than discount qouted me $628 than went to payless and the qouted me $468. I than called discount back and they qouted the $498 and he stated that was cost and no profit. I took the truck to Payless and they tried the big switch. I walkout and went to Discount. Just check around and remember you get what you pay for.
