There's a few guys with real stout strokers in front of alphas, and some real good threads already on this subject! Do a search on the topic, and your sure to find more info than you can handle!

This response may not be exactly related to boats but I would like to share it with you. I installed a GM Performance Parts 383 crate engine in my 93 Suburban a couple of years ago. It was so impressive that it inspired me to build a 496 stroker motor for my 24 Outlaw that I am also very pleased with. Now I am considering turning my 88ci Harley into stroked 103ci. As we all know.....there is no replacement for displacement. I am sold on stroker setups. Gobs of torque on tap feels great when towing, boating or riding.
I was sent the build sheet with my crate engine. After viewing all of the parts it looks to me like this would make a great boat engine. If interested in it is labeled a HT383. Specs are 340HP 430ft lbs of tourqe.

Re: Any 383sbc guys out there?
Hey I built a 383 for my 77 suburban a few years ago. Some serious power for a 5720 pound vehicle. I'll be be building one for my boat when the 350 gets tired or when I get tired of waiting. I'll be bolting it to an alpha II gen 1. I figure I can buy 3 alpha's for the cost of conversion to bravo 1.

Air Flow Research heads, Performer intake, 750 holley, any good cam in the 220 degree at .50 range, Ross pistons 10.to1 check the comp don't guess, Eagle H beams Clevite H bearings, and a good fuel pump. 380 hp or so.
