Default 8.1L 496 cu. in.

Hello, I'm new to this forum. I come here, because of the 496 engine I have. Who besides RAYLAR, makes Intakes(tunnel ram), heads, cams, headers (automobile) for this engine?
thanks LOU

Arizona Speed and Marine also makes a kit. Works very well.

Tyler Crocket is offering a package as well. They have a CNC program for the heads which apparently produces some outstanding flow numbers and also includes inconel exhaust valves, sever intake valves, new guides, seats, Isky valve springs. I think I ve seen them offered around $2500 with the stainless roller rocker kit. (This is with exchange)
It appears they are getting some healthy numbers out of this setup with a good cam and MEFI4 conversion to run the rpm up to 5400rpm with a well mapped program.
Maybe he could chime in here and tell us more

Also as stated, Arizona Speed and Marine and also Larry Peto is doing some good stuff as well.

Are you talking about an auto application or boat?

Ah, then you've probably figured out why there are so few replies, and the ones you got pertained to marine applications.

ya, but its engine performance i'm interested in, not what its in. I came here because the auto aftermarket has nothing, and you guys use these 496 motors in performance applications

But you'll find that building a motor for a boat or for a car is different. SO the aftermarket for the 496 in the marine world may not be what you'd want to run on the street. It's possible you could make a few changes and be good to go.

I'd call Raylar, maybe also contact some of the builders on here such as Mesa since he builds for both boat and car.

Go to the 8.1 section. They have a lot of Comp Cams, ASM, Raylar, Crane etc. for the 496.
