Fire damages boats at the Glen Cove Marina
Monday November 07, 2005
GLEN COVE, N.Y. (AP) A fire damaged at least three boats at a 250-slip marina on the north shore of Long Island on Monday. There were no immediate reports of injuries.
The fire at the Jude Thaddeus Glen Cove Marina originated aboard a 45-foot boat and spread to several others at around 12:30 p.m., a spokeswoman at the Glen Cove City Hall said.
The flames burned through the mooring ropes of the 45-foot Bertram sport boat, setting it adrift and into other boats, spreading the fire.
The Glen Cove fire department and Nassau Marine Bureau responded to the scene, as did the mayor, Mary Ann Holzkamp.
