Does anyone know when they changed to the new streamline version? Do they have billet top caps? Do all of them (old - new), have the billet cap?
Thanks,
Bob
Thanks,
Bob

Bob,
the new design came out last year sometime. The new case comes with a cap, that isnt billet but it is much thicker and has a steel tower in it. It can be used on the old case, but need to be shimmed accordingly, for proper setup..
Hope this helps.

not somuch stronger a little better design and harder to set up, one thing about merc when a patent is about to expire they change the design enough that the parts will have to come from them ie: gear changes 1.5 they changed to 1.47 ect guess it was time to change the housing

Thanks for the info guys. I didn't think Merc. would use a billet cap on that but, you never know. Looks good and beefy though.
I haven't seen the 2006 XR drives, do they use the same cap on them?
