Almost forgot to mention, the boat i'm driving right now is a 31 and has a 496 in it with about 2500 hours, and its one of the slow boats. The fast ones run a CAT diesel with 425 horses and TONS of torque. The freakin ferries that run between the islands are faster than my boat.

As far as i know the main issues are usually fuel pumps, starters if they get wet(happens sometimes on boats left in the water all the time) and exhaust systems. The water here is extremely salty and is pretty hard on manifolds etc. For the most part though they do pretty well. These boats are run pretty hard, dragging a 31-37 foot parachute behind them, beached, docked, and run through rough water all day, its definately a lot different driving with a chute behind you than just cruising around, especially in heavy traffic areas. We do however have checklists that are done every day, before and after running, and staff that works on the boats full time which makes a big difference.

Man this place is a blast, my new place will be at a resort with a beach and pool and crap. Bottles of rum are only $4 and you can get liquor at any time at any store. The bar right downstairs from me, when you order a drink they hand you the bottle and the mixer and the glass, you make the drink yourself, then you can roll dice to get it free or pay double if you want. Now if I could just find someone looking to hire a captain for a Cig I'd be set.
