Default Why did racing leave Milwaukee? Will they come back?

My entire life I have enjoyed boating. I never really followed the racing part until 2003 when everyone came to Milwaukee. What a great show. I was there both days and loved it. I'm a huge Nascar fan and I couldn't believe I could talk to the drivers, touch the boats etc. In 2004 the boats were back but a smaller group. I know in 2003 it was APBA that was here but I don't know about 2004 who the sponsor was.

In 2005 the boats were gone. I heard rumors that the city wouldn't work with the boaters but who knows if that is true. So my question is why did boating leave Milwaukee and will it ever be back?

Where is the next best place to go and see all of the boats? I was thinking of MI or TN next year. Thoughts?

Too much money the city wants is what I've heard.

Who ever did the last race needs to market the show better. There was almost NO info released that the big game was on.
Very few people knew there was even a race.

Even the captain of this Freighter had no clue. He came upon the race course and shut it down unexpectedly for about an hour That's the old 35 on Turn 1.

OSS is working on a date (I believe) in Sept but nothing looks promising yet.

I had hear of problems with the grass in the park being too beat up. The city was demanding a huge deposit to reseed after the race.

The 2004 race was poorly scheduled as there was another race on that weekend that most people attended. I agree that both events were poorly promoted. I too recall the freighter incident, and apparently somebody somewhere was aware of him. It's my understanding that he took priority over our event.

Cord, waiting for guy to call me back, not sure if he is in the woods with everyone else around here. I'll try him again today.
