Default yo jcperf

here are my options on exhaust, i can get stainless marine gen III's with 5" dry tails for about 2750 a pair, or i can get two pair of low hour cmi split tops from my engine builder for around 5 k and reuse my 4.5 tails with the gaffrig mufflers. which set up do you think will make more hp on a 588ci 1000hp blower motor? thx, ratman

The Stainless marine exhaust is less restrictive then the CMIs.The CMIs will choke a 1000HP engine by up to 40 HP up top.I would buy the Stainless exhaust over the CMI.5 inch tails are better to have. The dry is worth some power if you dont have strict noise regulations

Ratman, I ran SM GEN III on my Black Thunder. You have to be very careful about center distance in side by side installations. Check with Brownie @ SM on that issue. Also I was always having exhaust leaks. The rigging was tall decks on transmissions to #5 plug ins. The 5"pipes went tru transom and were dry to the very last 1/2". I think if you gave the tail pipes some type of mid distance support you might keep them sealed. With the kind of running you do you need to check this out very carefully. Joe Murray
