Exhaust for blower motors question.......

I'm getting ready to look for exhaust for a blower motor. I don't want to go with headers and was thinking about a set of used Gils or IMCO's or something along those lines.
I've heard I should have the elbow with the water dump that comes in on top of the elbow instead of at the base of the elbow right above the exhaust manifold due to a blowers ability to surge and suck the water back into the cylinders (I'm thinking that would be bad). I've only seen the style that dumps in at the base. What's the deal with this. Who's has experience with this? Mechanics???? Thanks.

I have Gil and love them, not headers just top pipes and i do run the elbows, just watch out the Gils may sit alittle higher on the manifold causing your rubber exhaust pipes to the rear to burn out on the top from the rear haul exit to the header pipe

Hey Scooter, so you are running the regular elbows that have the water returns just above the exhuast manifolds? How long have you been running that set up with out probs?

Reversion is due to cam overlap, not blower surge.
I run Stainless Marine manifolds on my blower motors and have used Gills before. Short pipes are the ones that generally give the problems because water enters the pipe very close to the "rise".
You shouldn't have a prob with either manifold as long as you pressure test before you buy used ones.
Be careful, most of them are being replaced for a reason.

So DJD if you go with the long pipes the water dumps back into the pipes away from the manifold? are the short pipes just more common? Ans basically as long as they are pressure tested ok theres not a prob. with either type?

Dave, I can pick up a set of stellings for pretty cheap but I want to stay away from headers bro. From what I've seem they tend to leak water back into the cylinders. They are good for more speed and all, but just don't seem as reliable as the manifold style exhaust.
