Surveyor in southern NJ??
#1
Can anyone recomend a good surveyor to me who can take a look at a boat in southern NJ? I went to the SAMS website and saw a bunch on there, but I was hoping to find a personal reference because i will not be there when the survey occurs. Thanks.

Lance,
I would highly recommend Pat Dender. He specializes in high performance boats and engines. He did a very complete survey on a Scarab 38 KV for me last spring, including full engine survey, and sea trial. He really knows his stuff with these boats, and was very helpful. Many surveyors take on these boats but know nothing about them, and some wont touch them at all. Pat was in Northeastern NJ, but traveled anywhere. You can reach him at (732)988-5483. He is a SAMS fully accredited hull and engine surveyor- AMS. (not associate surveyor - SA)
Best of luck.

Don't use Pat Dender of Accredited Marine Technologies, he told a buyer I had no anchor and there was an anchor and 150' of line and chain, I had bypassed the windlass because I did not realize the circuit breaker had popped. He also could not figure out how to operate many of the light switches. Pat Dender of Accredited Marine Technologies left a mess in the boat leaving his empty Coke Bottles in the sink and on the floor. Said I needed a new gimble bearing when the power steering pump reservoir was low. He will blow your deal! Seller reject Patrick Dender of Accredited Marine Technologies as this Surveyor, tell your broker you will not deal with him Pat Dender.
His company is: Accredited Marine Technologies. When I called him to speak about the survey he hung up on me, he said he did not work for me. He recommended to have the Duo-props re-pitched to get engine up 300 RPM's when it was just the Throttle linkage needed to be adjusted. Patrick Dender is a trouble maker and a deal breaker and Accredited Marine Technologies will make you lose your deal!
