Default 496 CI w/525 SC blower HELP!

Building a 496 out of 454 block. Merlin heads, roller 612 lift cam 114 deg. Bought a blower supposedly off a 525 SC. Weiand, black case red Mercruiser SC insignia on side. I believe to be a 177, has single Dominator top. Is it gonna produce enough for this motor or do I need a 250 blower????? Help Please!

You need a 250 blower. The 177 may work but will not give you the results that you want. You may be able to get 5# of boost and it will have to spin it so fast that it will create too much heat.

I run almost the smallest pulley on my 454ci/525sc and its at about 7# boost. The 177 is spinning near or maybe more than its max rated rpms at WOT. I think its rated to spin about 12000rpms max. I'm at 2.5 overdriven at 5200rpms+13000rpms

hitter,
Looks like from your post count (3) that you don't know this is a question for the technical/general discussion forum.
Try your question there.
BTW, you'll probably be OK with the 177 if you don't try to make too much boost. If you do, you'll have to spin it pretty fast, making a lot of heat. You could go to a 250 (I recommend a Blower Shop 250), which would be more efficient for a 500" neighborhood motor, or use an intercooler with the 177.

Your static CR will have something to do with how much boost you need out of it....It still might work for you.
Lets say your running a 9:1 CR, you will only need 4psi or so....It should cover that but like mentioned, 2:1 is what its designed to operate at.
It makes more heat the faster you spin it.
