How much to add switchable exhaust?
#1
If my boat already had exhaust , but I wanted to switch both engines to a switchable type, (i.e. captains call etc.) , how much $ would I be looking at? I'm talking total cost here, parts, removal of old exhaust , installation of new, switches on dash, everything?
Thanks,
M

The silent choice diverters are even more money, probably at least a grand each new if not more, so maybe 5 hundred or so on Ebay. You need an air pump if they are air activated and the switch(another couple of hundred bucks) and you have to pull the motor to install it. So you've got a couple of thousand in parts new, plus labor to install and don't forget you have to r&R your motor and drive to install it. You could save an easy grand or more per motor buying on Ebay.

That sounds like a huge effort and expense to make your boat quiet...
How about just adding some of those Gibson turn down exhaust tips?? Quiet at idle and back to normal when on plane. Much cheaper alternative($500) and their as easy as clamping them on...
