Gerry , I have the 182c in my OL and I can't see it worth a sh1t in the daytime while running. I had the 182 in my old Cig and I could read that a lot better than the 182c. Tom

I bought one at the '04 Miami boat show for $700 w/ the chip. I do believe that they are now an "obsolete" model. If that's the case, you will see all of the electronic wholesalers have them for a great price in the very near future. It's an awesome unit, we liked the one in our Bullet very much. Brightness was never an issue.

The new one is the 192c which has all the map data for the country in it. So you don't need "chips" anymore. Right now it ain't no biggie, but if Garmin stops making the bluechart chips like they stopped making the G chart chips they will become very scarce.
As for visibility, I have never seen better than the Garmin color units-especially the 182c.

I have tried to adjust the brightness , but the brightness did not work. That is probably the problem . I will see if I can send it to the factory to be fixed. Thanks, Tom
