I put over 40 of them on there in December. That ups the numbers a bit.

Paint is coming off due to electric current in the water. Once you get a chip in the paint, it spreads like cancer. Very common in fresh water. Especially if you dock near boats that have shore power or the electric lines to the docks are not grounded. All the excess current goes into the water. Its worse if you tie up downstream of a boat with shorepower.

Most likely poor primer and paint prep on the lowers ,it looks like it is isolated to just the lowers also.Still nice topgun for the price.

How do you prevent it ???????

My drive is toast after 2 seasons, I just thought I had a bad paint job,, paint was blistering so I figured at the end of the season I would prime and re-paint, took a season ending 130 mile trip to NYC and back, pulled the boat out of the water paint was gone and my drive was eaten away badly,, it's at the dealer as we speak getting fixed under 3 year merc. warranty... what also concerns me is that the anodes were like brand new no deterioration at all... ????
