As I´m putting a HP525EFI into my Outlaw (26 footer, 2150kg), I´m considering fitting an ITS transom at the same time. Extension box, 7" setback and integrated hydraulic steering. Sounds like a good idea (like alot of things do before you try them!)
They (extension boxes) seams to be quite popular on bigger stepped twins.
So what does it do on a unstepped single? Is the X dimension adjustable? Which prop will work best: Bravo, Maximus, Hydromotive? Is the power (to weight) too marginal or the potential speed range too low (75 - 80) to get the benefit of cleaner water further behind the hull? This must however work similar to an outboard bracket.
Anyone with experience of an IMCO ext box or an ITS?

I think that the Stellings box is a better box. It is adjustable and has 12" setback. The ITS box is cool, but if you already have hydraulic steering I think there are better choices.
Our boats, Baja's, don't typically respond well to boxes. I've asked around like you are doing and that is what I am being told.

I have the i.t.s. and the 525efi set up and I love it. The i.t.s. is very clean.

The ITS is not adjustable, using a
ITS is going in effect lower your
x dimesion.

If your really wanting to add a box, and
since you have the engine out, I'd go
with a IMCO 3" raised box, you would
have to raise up the front engine mounts,
and possibly some different tail pipes
( exhaust outlet alignment)
You will ( if you dont already have)
need external steering.

Other things that come into play
are drive water pick up location, and prop
selection.

1996 272 Baja, added "ITS" & 2" shorter lower, ran 4 blade 30 pitch Bravo 1.The "ITS" added 3 mph, the boat handled better, and there was no problem with water pressure. They are clean and easy to install.

Thanks for the good info! I don´t have hydraulic steering until now (stock 496HO with BravoX boat) so my options are open. I´m going for full hydraulic either way. What´s the hole shot like with an ext. box (ITS or otherwise) and what does the steering feel like?

@ gsmith - what boat, prop and what speeds are you getting? Did you run the boat without ITS before?
To be honest, I will probably go for the ITS even if there were no speed advantage because I´m convinced that it contributes to effective hull length/ rough water ride quality. What I don´t really need, however, is a settup that make the hole shot into a cavitation/slip start. The boat just isn´t exotic enough to justify that!

@ bawana - sounds cool! What motor are you running and what speed are you getting. A 30 Bravo must mean your up in the high 80´s, and that means 750 + HP! Respect!
