I can't tell you much about the technical side of the speakers, but I've installed them in my last 2 boats....but i used the 6.5" round 3 ways with the subs. They have held up fine to the abuse and the elements....and so did my Xplode Amps.

im thinking about either going with 2 pairs fo the 6x9's and a set of 12" subs, or 1 pair of 6x9, one pair of 6.5 and one set of the subs..

any opinions?

I think if you need a good budget priced speaker like the explode the Kicker line might serve you better, I personally have 8 mb quart and a jl w7 13 in my cockpit, but I'm a freak like that.

Good luck.

Be careful about the internet marketers of the counterfeits. They'll just call them Xplod, make sure that if you want the real ones, you buy from a Sony dealer.

I got 4 Kicker 6 1/2 speakers and 2 Kicker 12's in my boat. No problem hearing the music even running at speed. 1 amp for the 4 6 1/2s and 1 for the two 12s.

If you are going to order online, one of your first hits on a search will be onlinecarstereo.com. I would not recommend them. They are likely to have the best prices, but their customer service sucks big time.
I recently ordered a Nakamichi head unit for my car from them and it took forever and a day to get. Unfortunately, I didn't have many other options...nobody sells Nak stuff. Sony, on the other hand is easy to find.

Typically, when you order online, you are not dealing with an authorized dealer and in many cases are taking a big chance on getting bad product, undisclosed refurb product, or no product at all. Many online sellers advertise products they dont have simply to get you to call them. Others may offer you counterfeit or gray market goods.

You don't have to take chances with your money nor do you have to waste your time. Bear in mind that an online deal may not be better than striking up a quick deal in a reputable store that is authorized to sell goods and will provide you better before and after the sale support.

My company does not advertise to be an "internet store" as we are a full service brick and morter. We do pride ourselves on providing great deals and great customer support to those looking for quality car, marine or home theater products. We strive to assist people in purchasing the best combination of products for maximum performance at a fair price with no nonsense.

For a great deal, dont forget to mention OSO.
