Default Gelcoat

I am currently sanding off the awlgrip paint job on my deck and i'm going to regelcoat the deck. I know its a painful job. Does all the paint have to come off. I'm sanding the deck with 80 grit sand paper so the gelcoat will get plenty of bite. Thanks for any suggestions.

If your going to re gel the deck you should remove all the old paint. Why don't you just repaint the deck with a good poly?

If your going to regel it better place your sandpaper oder now it's ALOT of sanding.

Save yourself ALOT of time and expense, and just re paint it with a quality paint such as Imrom. I prefer Imron over Awlgrip for spraying, as I find I get a better finish with (Awlgrip can also be painted on with a brush with great results). Imron and Awlgrip are both Linear Polyurethanes, tough paints and will outlast the shine of gelcoat.
