You can go round and round on this one. In theory a satin finished prop should be faster than an identical polished prop. In reality they are the same. Go with the finish you like the best.

It was on this forum, or another where someone said "satin props are faster...for the prop guy" there is some truth to that.

Testing was done many years ago by my old boss on the advantages of polished finished propellers. The determination was the "satin" finish is faster. We still find that to be true. The differences are MINIMAL if the process on the high polish is done correctly.

I agree with Matt. Do whatever you prefer. High polish looks really nice when you look at the prop or in the words of Dennis C..........."when you are pulling the boat in a parade."

I heard it was fastest if part of it was polished and part of it was satin. I know Hering's are polished, but the tips of the blades/leading edge are satin. Any thoughts?

Aesthetics, trademark, signature, call it what you will.

We played with those things years ago. We stopped doing those things years ago.
