Ebay Scam! $30,000.00 CLOSE CALL!!!!
#1
This was a huge close call and almost cost someone $30,000 today.
I am currently selling some stuff on Ebay. 4 cars, a boat and some other items.
Last night I get an email that said my credit card was used to list a new account on Ebay to sign in and verify the charge. After I punched in my name and password it asked for my credit card info PLUS my PIN number. I knew something was up and forwared the email to Ebay. It came back saying is was a scam. I was relieved I didn't put my Credit card info in. I didn't even realize I put my Ebay name and password.
This morning I woke up, check my auctions. I tried to log on and it said incorrect password. I checked my email and had 2 emails from Ebay. one was password changed, the second was Email address changed. I then noticed several items i won but never really bid on. I contacted Ebays live support, the said my accout was compromised. The made me use another email account and change my password. I assume it was over. This afternoon, I get a call from my partner on my boats secretary. She said I guy just called and wanted to verify the address to send the $30,000 deposit. I told her I didn't talk to anyone about a deposit and the auction on the Cigarette isn't over. My parner gets on the phone with the guy, and the guy said he got an email from me, I will knock $75,000 off the buy it now price if he immediatly wires or overnights a $30,000 deposit. The person that stole my account info emailed all the highest bidders and offered them deals on my boat for immediate cash. Thank god I put my partners phone number in the ad or some guy would have been out $30K.
Pretty Scary!!!

This is going to be the end of ebay. They better get serious about this crap or they will soon be done. There is no way that I would buy anything from there any more unless I could pick it up or have someone I know pick it up for me. Small stuff ok but nothing over a couple hundred.

Now that I know that, I will check that first before opening emailsthat say from Ebay.
Ya in MyEbay you can see any and all messages.

I think I get an email at least every other day claiming that my e-bay account has been compromised. Luckily, my email account gives me a notice that the sender could not be verified. Best bet is never to click on a link in email. Go to the site itself to login.
