Diesel Dually VS 2500 Suburban as everyday grocery getter

Ok, still going back and forth on this.
Need a truck for the twice yearly tow NY to FL and back again, plus everday use. Towing a 30 Sonic, might upgrade to 42 Sonic, but probably not.
Obviously a long bed dually is the better choice for towing, as wifey will be driving sometimes and wind blasts from passing semis is a bit$h. The older caddy Escalade I tested for a while skittered all over the freeway when a semi passed, NO WAY would I want to tow with that, and I am assuming the 2500 Suburban would be the same. Am I incorrect in this?
Clearly the Suburban is the better choice for everyday use, not as wide, but maybe the fuel economy sucks big time and the diesel dually is better for this too. Humm, maybe I answered my own question. <gg>
I have my popcorn ready, and am awaiting the responses.

i have a new 2006 2500 suburban and it tows my boat ok. this is my second 2500 suburban and use it as every day driver or wife does as well. i use to tow with a 2500 hd diesel pickup and it definitely handled the best, i.e. fuel etc. my boat and trailer are right at the max of gvw with wd system. by the way, make sure if you are going to suburban that you get 8100 and 4.10 rear end. big difference. e-mail me if interested and my partner owns the chevy store in town and can scout around for a gm release like mine. under $35k with 2k miles loaded up.

Gonna agree with Hammer01 on this one, if it wasn't a daily driver, I'd buy the dually, but parking one sucks, so the Burban with the 8100 and the 4:10 gears is gonna be the better option.(Especially if momma ever tore a dually fender off parking,,,thats just enough to flat ruin your day.

yeah parking a dually sucks. The ride is a little rough over bumps for everyday driving too.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Hammer01, does the burb get blown around on the freeway by passing semis? I am guessing yes, and that really freaks me out.
Or, once the trailor is attached, with a proper hitch, does that settle it down?

Don't need the Dually, but consider a 4 door Duramax HD.
We have an 03 2500 Burb with the 6.0 motor......DON"T GET THE 6.0!!! If you go Burb get the 8.1 however with only a few tows a year I'd get the 3.73 gears. You'll only loose a little TQ on the bottom end but gain almost 1 MPH the rest of the year. The truck gets pushed a little if a semi blows by, but usually I'm running with them so it's not a big problem. (I'm towing 8,000 lbs boat, fuel and trailer make it around 10,500)

If you get the 2500 deff. 4.10 gears. Should be fine with 30'-32' boat. I think the 4 door p/u w/srw would be more stable.
If you upgrade the boat don't even think about not up grading to dual rear wheels.

We have both (well a Tahoe not a burb) and once you get use to the dually either or are easy enough to drive even for my wife, but pulling is night and day, get the dually. And diesel rocks.

I have a 96 454 vortec burb 2500 4.10 I put the 2 1/2 "spacers in the rear to correct the tracking difference of that years 4WD. And in summer use alloy Weld wheels and big Michellin's. I tow a heavy 38 cig on a steel Myco trailer with ease, even loaded w/ all the stuff for maintenance and vacation. The overdrive trans will compensate for gas mileage concerns as a daliy driver. Or extend the life of whatever you choose by driving a beater
