For those of you MD boaters,

There is a fire spreading through solomons island right now taking out some of the restaraunts.

Word is that Bowens already burnt to the ground and the Lighthouse restaraunt is currently blazing.

I shure hope they can stop it ,the wind on the bay is blowing a gail,every thing there is so close together!

Looks like they have it under control now. I just saw on cnn.

Our receptionist here at work is married to a local firefighter, and she's been keeping us abreast of the situation.

Apparently a gas/or oil tank exploded causing the huge fire. Hopefully there are no fatalities, but from the sounds of it that seems unlikely

One of the nicest and most quaint places in MD. Its a little island community full of little shops, and a few bars, and a world famous Tiki Bar.

Very saddened to see this. Its a favorite stop on the RPBA annual Chesapeake Bay Tour. This will definately hurt the whole community through the whole upcoming season.

Reports are that flames have been spotted behind tiki bar. Hopefully they can keep it under control.

40mph winds are hampering the effort and some boats are on fire as well now.
