Anybody Else Get A Mercury - Bravo X or XR Drive Recall
#1
Any body have anymore info on this safety recall? It says it's for a Back Cover Replacement. "The Back Cover in Question May Be Making Contact With the Shift Lever Link Bar, Which Could Cause the Shift System to Fail."
It goes on to reference MerCruiser Service Bulletin 2005-1 and/or Mercury Racing Bulletin 2005-2.
I just bought my boat new in October so maybe this is an old issue?
Any Tech's have access to these Bulletins?

Take it to a dealer or at least call it in to one & give them the serial number of the drive. They should be able to tell if it needs replacement. Either way no big deal, the new cover just is clearanced a little more where the shift linkage moves.

Every Registered Owner Should Have Gotten One. They Started The Recall About A Year Ago. Your Suppose To First Remove The Back Covers And Inspect Them For Wear Then Replace The Components The Recall Outlines. It You Call A Mercury Dealer With Your Drive Serial Numbers They Can Immediately Tell You If The Recall Has Been Satisfied Or If Yours Needs To Be Serviced

Called with my Drive serial number and it is affected. This Recall notice was sent out to specific owners of serial numbered units that are affected. This was not a general mail out.
