Just like last year, they have officials from APBA there with the timing lights on a measured 5/8 mile kilo course.

They are doing it the right way, no stopwatches in Crescent City.

Thanks for the compliment but sadly I had to leave. I had some flu problems that also caused me to miss St Cloud.

I did see some official/unofficial runs by LaveyCraft, Kean, Freeze Frame and another slick inboard. They were going after the record for houseboats right after lunch when I had to leave.

Besides, something is wrong with my new camera

It causes photos to come out on the dark side. I will be calling Panasonic tomorrow.

I will have things worked out by Ft Meyers I hope. I have never been there..

Yes, the smaller boats and special event boats like houseboats and turbine yachts are running under the rules from the local APBA club, FAST BOATS INC. OF CENTRAL FLORIDA. They brought out their timing gear and will also do the timing for the OPA sanctioned boats. OPA is also an APBA club http://www.apba-racing.com/Clubs.php?Reg=3.

So, the answer is, this is a joint APBA - OPA event. Not an APBA Offshore event.
