Ball Mount Help Needed
#1
I know the title sounds perverse!
I have a 2002 excursion. I know I need to change the receiver to a Putnam xdr or Reese Titan. The problem is that I need an 8" drop ball mount. I don't want to buy the receiver before I can find a ball mount that will work. I prefer 2" to stay with standard and just go with the Putnam receiver. I am only finding that Reese makes a ball mount that will work, but it is a 2.5" I would like the ball mount to have a rating of at least 12000# weight carrying and 1200 tongue weight for safety sake. The boat weighs 7500# loaded. Any help where I can find a ball mount that will work would be greatly appreciated. Scott Portell

Alright, now can anyone find me a class IV ball mount, 8000 lbs weight carrying, 2" reciever, that will take a ball with a 1" diameter shank?
I have the 1" shank, 8000 lb, 2" ball, but the only 8000 lb ball mounts i can find are for a 1.25" shank. The ball came with the new brake actuator. I found a setup with a 2" on one side and a 2 5/16" on the other side rated for what i need, and that's what i'm using now, but it's painted black and will look like crap fairly soon.

Chris, you did so well with that task, I need more help. When I try to get a part # for a putnam hitch, it tells me nothing is available for a 2002 excursion. Is there a hitch made for the excursion that is rated over 5000# weight carrying? Thanks for everything. Scott

Scott, I put a 6,500 w.c. hitch on my F-150 simple bolt on,, The reason your having a problem is becasue and dont quote me on this,,, I believe the hitch's on the excursion are riveted to the frame so a simple bolt on solution isn't available, but technically it is,, I know people have done it on this board,, you gotta drill out the rivets and bolt on the heavy duty hitch. I'm pretty sure GLH had an X and did this and maybe Phantom Chaos ( Norty ) also... I would ask GLH first...
Also it may just be the same hitch as the pickup's, I know the X is base on the F series super duty trucks, and I also know my f-150 and my brother in laws expedition use the same hitch. so there may be a cross-reference between the X and the pick-up,,, Like I said ask GL..

Go to this link http://turnoverball.com/ and look at the accessories section. Take a look at the Tow and Stow ball mount. We sell A LOT of these things.
The Aluminum one in the link above by Rapid Hitch is also a nice unit. I run it on my truck.
