what are some of the companies that make alum. swim platforms and what should one expect to pay for these??

Theres an advertisement in the back of PBM every month. Extreme I think is the name of the company. 1,000 is around the price for a powder coated (your choice of colors) billet swim platform.

I had a 28' Pantera with an Extreme Marine platform and it looked great.....pretty functional too!
