Engine hasn't been run in 1.5 years what to do?
#1
I have a friend who was been out of town for 1.5 years, left his boat sitting and wondering what to do to get her running right. Engine is a 2000 Merc 350 MAG MPI. Today we changed the oil/filter , water seperator, and plugs, she ran alot better than she did before that, but is still rough. Going to put fresh fuel in her tomorrow. Change cap & rotor, wires, what else should we do? Also the bravo is stuck up in the trailer position, she will go up but not down? Thanks for any help you can offer

Dump a couple of bottles of seafoam or Chevron techron injector cleaner in the gas, and it will probably clear it up.
I'd guess your trim problem is in the switch. I am on the road now, so I can't remember which wires are which, but if you jump right ones at the trim pump together it should go down if it is a switch problem.
If not the switch, 2nd guess is wiring; loose/corroded connection or broken wire.

It is not good to run in the trailer positon, until you find the cause pull the pin out of the back end of the rams and drop the drive down before yo run it again.

Seems to be comin in our area that the injectors get stuck and don't work after sitting for awhile. Take a screw driver when the boat is running and listen to the injectors, you should hear each one clicking (opening and closing) If you find one that doesn't tap on it gentley that usually frees them up.
As mentioned earlier don't run it again until you get the drive down, its very hard on your u-joints. Cheveron fuel and chevron fuel injector cleaner should help clean up the injectors after there all firing.
