I asked this same question to Hardin Marine point blank face to face at PRI in Dec/05. I did not ask it as a quicky, it was asked and replied in total seriousness and matter of a factly.
They adamantly said the companies ( Hardin and CP) are totally seperate. CP is a huge wholesaler/retailer of their products.
Hope this helps and please take it as face value.
I believe all are here on this board so maybe they'll chime in.

Hardin Marine is a manufacturer and designer.
Keith Eickert Performance Products is a manufacturer, distributor and retailer.
CP Performance is a distributor and retailer.
All 3 of these companies are individual corporations which are operated independently of each other.
All 3 of the corporations are owned by US Investment Holdings Group, a holding company of many types of businesses and investments.
The fact that the companies are joint holdings is the reason you see some similarity in product lines, part numbers, prices and vendors such as their web designer.
Hope this makes it all clear for everyone.
