Default Mobil 1

I am changing my oil and someone told me to use 0w-40 oil in my boat.. I got mobil 1 and a fram hp4 filter. My question is does the weight sound right. It's a 375hp sbc around 5200 rpms. I wanted some feed back before I used it, also going to synthic from non is there any thing special that should be done....

first dont use fram.......... use wix or merc

mobile is one of the best synthetic oils, I personally prefer the merc 25-40 ( im old school ) but if your going to use synthetic thats second best next to amsoil

I use 15W50. I agree, throw that Fram filter in the trash. Wix will work great. AC also makes one of the best filters.

Is the Mobil v-twin worth the money? Or, is the Mobil 15-50 or Amsoil just as good?

V-twin is awesome, we run it in our dirt track cars and some nights see 320* oil temp. It is a 20/50 oil. The 15/50 is good stuff, if you are seeing higher oil temps like 260* on up then the v-twin is worth the bucks IMO.

I run v-twin my boat and change it at 50 hours, last oil and filter change was $114

Check out Hydrocruiser's marine lubrication thread in the tech section for the latest word on engine oils.

Trash the Fram filter. Go with with Wix Racing from Napa.
