I have a guy selling me a bowtie 540 block with a crank. I'm not sure what crank it is but i bealive it's calli, herb i don;t know..one of those high performance onces. I'll find out for sure tomorrow. He's selling me both the motor and crank for $1000. what do yall think... I'm guessing i can get 650 hp - 675 hp n/a and then 850hp-875 hp with a blwer 871 with a chillier for my Mag

Ditto! If the block is good and not coroded to heLL and back its a very good deal. You might want to tell him after you have the block pressure checked and magged and the crank magged that you will then pay him the rest. I have seen alot of people buy broken crankes before.

Find the casting number on the rear of the block and go to http://www.mortec.com/bbc.htm and look it up. Make sure you are getting what you expect.

Alright yall i have decided to go ahead and buy the block and crank. I wanted to know how much ( $ ) yall think i will be spending in parts to build my engine ( prep for future blower) don't include labor. It's a 540 bow tie . Saying i have the block, crank, headers and carbs. Thanks in advance
