My mechanical trim and tab indicators are very hard to read because they are mounted flat. I wanted to get an angled "bezel" made but after seeing how they mount that won't work. So, I thought about putting some kind of "extension" on the indicators themselves and machining slots in the face panel so the indicators would actually potrude above the panel. But that would leave them open to the elements.

Any ideas?

I was going to suggest the same thing that you are thinking. just get small 1/4" extensions to stick up and you should be good. I wouldn't worry about elements too much, as all fountains are like that (open slots with no cover). Or when not using the boat, just put a flip a tupperware container upside down on top of it to keep out any water your cover may let in.

Boat is inside most of the time when not in use so the elements probably aren't a big concern. Now I have to figure out what to use foir extensions that what look too cheesy!

What about pop-up indicators?

Those are great and if I had no indicators at all and starting from scratch that is what I would use. I'm just looking for something cheap and easy.

Can't feel your way thru it? thats the cheapest way.

Honestly I would like to know where my tabs are. I drove my blackhawk for 5 years with no indicators because I didn't think I needed them. Well, the Pantera also has a ton of bow lift so it would be nice to know where the "sweet spot" is with the tabs without bringing the tabs up to far and launching the front end!

I pulled off the cover and rigged up a mock setup and ran it a couple weekends ago and I loved knowing where my tabs were all the time. Now I just want to figure out how to do and make it look good.

After 5 years with the blackhawk I am tired of using "The Force"!
