Merc part # 805224a1

$76.63 from Marc at BAM

GM part # 17113099

Available from local GM dealer. I don't know the counter price but the discount price is $60-61.

It is something that should be available from NAPA or most auto parts stores. Just have to have a counter person that understands more than year/make/model.

A rare thing these days. Don't go into an Pep Boys/AutoZone store looking for common marine/auto parts. If they can't look it up on the computer, they are lost.

I needed a 1/2" pipe plug Sun and AutoZone was next door to where I was eating so I stopped in. I was looking for it myself when I was asked what I was looking for. He wanted me to come to the counter and wanted to know year/make/model. So I told him '65 Karmann Gia. Said he had never heard of Karmann cars and could not find that make. I explained it was made by VW. I continued back to the the area with misc hardware and fittings. I found what I needed and he also found what he insisted was the correct part. It did measure 1/2" long.

It would have been easier to find at Lowes or HomeDepot.
