I saw a news item on a local Long Island News Channel
Some guy was stealing items off boats (GPS - fishing rods - etc. and anything that he could remove) Apparently he was selling the stuff on e-bay. Anyway he got busted at the post office trying to ship the stolen items. Good for the bastard.
HERE'S THE PRINTED VERSION FROM THE INTERNET
Cops nab Smithtown man accused of robbing boats
Suffolk police have arrested a man accused of stealing an estimated $100,000 of gear off boats in six East End marinas.
Cops say 24-year-old Smithtown resident Jonathan Iavarone targeted marinas in Southold, Cutchogue and Sag Harbor in the last nine months. He is accused of stealing electronics, reels, radios and GPS systems. Detectives say they got the break they needed when a victim spotted his stolen fishing reel on eBay. Investigators say they were able to match the serial numbers of the stolen goods to several items listed on the auction site.
Officers got the name of the account holder from eBay officials and busted Iavarone at the Hauppauge Post Office. They say Iavarone, who now faces grand larceny charges, was about to mail some stolen items.

And it doesn't even pay interest.
