TRS Transom seal
#1
I'm trying to replace the cork transom seal on one side of my twin TRS set up. At the bottom of the drive on the outside of the transom the cork is completely pushed out and allows water into the boat at rest. I have removed the motor, removed the outdrive, steering and the eight nuts inside of the transom. It feels like there is something else holding the gimbal assembly on, but I can 't find it. Does anybody have some words of wisdom for me? Thanks.

Thanks guys! I got it. It was simply stuck together with RTV. Once I got 6 wood chisels pounded into the cork it started popping. Now the question is: Do I need the cork gasket or will RTV or 5200 work in place of the cork?

Merc reccomends only the cork gasket. But on older boats, there are usually some transom irregularities. To prevent leaks, I use the cork gasket and silicone on easch side of it.
If you use 5200, you might pull the gelcoat off if you have to remove it again.
