Ever had a prop thrust washer break?
#1
I was testing my new props today. About an 1hr into driving, i heard a pop, almost like a back fire. I stopped, checked the engine and everything seemed fine. I couldnt get the engines to wind up all the way. Got back and one of my props was loose. pulled it off and it grinded into the lower case, and no thrust washer. are they know for breaking??

I had this happen before too, well sort of.
Changed props, thrust washer stuck in old prop and I didn't notice, installed new prop during a brain fart

) . It was running good, 5400 rpms, heard a pop, like a backfire. I stopped and checked the engines, everything was good. Started back up, but only to get 5000 rpms. checked it when i pulled the boat out, and found this.1st one is good side, second bad side

1) if it was in there and broke or shattered the zinc would be scared up and it looks fine to me
2) if it did break it would have broken in to REALLY small pieces to disapear through the prop hub

Any thoughts on the loud, single pop like a backfire, then loosing 400rpms? I really dont think it came from the engines.
You would think rubbing against the outdrive would slow it down quite a bit.
