Default what can i expect by upgrading to HO from MAG?

Ive got an '05 cobalt 262 with the 496 mag. Im considering the upgrade of turning the engine into the HO. I have the bravo 3 outdrive. but Im concerned that the money spent on the upgrade wont be worth the final outcome. Also, i dont have the selectable exhaust. (unfortunately), is that something im going to need to consider to see much of a gain by going HO?

what should i expect in mph gain?

2-5 mph alittle quicker getting on plane all depends on how you end up proping it, rember its only 50 hp difference but will hold up alittle better

In a boat that heavy, you'll see a 2-3mph gain.

Its not worth it in my opinion to change engines for only a 50hp gain and no other reason.

What is the cost of the upgrade? The CMI 496 Kit will give you 55+ HP at less hassle and possibly less overall cost.

Let us know if we can help.

If it is changed to HO specs it must have open exhaust. I really don't think the expense and hassle is worth it. You could keep an eye out for a 525, but I'm not sure how the BIII would like all that torque
