I know this is for boats only but I just bought a 67 Camaro with a Merc 502 efi in it and I know nothing about the engine. I would like to mod it or relace it with something that I can mod.

Merc and Chevy... same same brother. Only real diff is the gaskets and the freeze plugs. Neither hurt a car. I would think about a better cam...

I've seen that car on internet for prob atleast 3-4 yrs now. Maybe more ? Or unless there are other Camaros with 'blue' motors in there.

Yes, this engine can be modded, but the real question to you is, what exactly are you looking for in the hp/torque and rpm band ?

With that info we can probably help you easier.

What a waste of nice motor. You'd be better off selling the 500hp and building something else for that car. BTW, those motors are about 475hp at best, that should put you in the mid/low 400's at the ground. That's not a drag racing motor, it would run nice for you as a driver but I can't believe you're going to put nitrous on it and beat it up. Does it still have the factory rev limiter on it? I'll buy it off you if you're interested in selling it, so will a bunch of other people on this site.

I sold my blown (locked up) 94 454 Mag (carb) to some drag guys. They like the 4 bolt main. Much better then what the factory offered. Just my 02

Car already has a different cam and Harlen sharp roller rockers on it so it has been modded already, I am not going to kill the engine for I have respect for this kind of stuff, sorry I know the engine is worth more that 3 k. Planning already on FI on the car being it is low comp. THanks for the help guys! I will post pics of the car to see it is the same one.
