I've got a 2005. I get around 22 mpg in town. Averaging about 17 mph in downtown traffic, and I'm not afraid of the throttle. On a long trip, averaging 80+ mph, I was getting around 31-32 mpg.

Personally, I love the car. I do have a Kleemann KD-Box on it which offers 4 settings for performance. It brings the performance of the car to about that of an E500, with almost the same torque as a stock E55. All that, with the above gas milage.

31k miles, no problems that I've noticed, but when I had it in for its "B" service last week, they did fix 2 recall items that I never noticed.

I will be buying one shortly but the new Bluetec diesel won't be released until October to coincide with the the US release of low sulfer diesel. According to MBNA the current diesel cannot be used in the 07 car so the nationwide release of ultra low emmision/ low sulfur diesel is coming in October.
07 car is slightly restyled over the 06.

They are also releasing a GL and ML diesel option later in the year.

It's supposed to be better, although I really don't know. I'm still having too much fun with it to get great gas milage. So yes, it has gone down some, but my foot is usually in it.

I've heard of 40mpg with the KD-Box from people who drive 60-65 on commutes, however, my personal driving won't allow that; 3 miles to work, stoplights & stop signs the whole way.

I took a test ride in one a few weeks ago. Over all it wasnt bad, but I really didnt love it. I was thinking about waiting for the new 07, but some how wound up buying a CLS 500. How this exactly happend, I dont know. Its a nice car based on the E 500 but a littler nice inside with a few S class goodies. I did get a very good deal.
