If you put the new style cylindical fuel pumps away even for a short while with out treating them they wil stick and not work when the fuel dries, yes you can whack them to free them up but a better way is to hook them to power and spray WD40 through them. They will be fine even after many months or more.

Merc & Volvo use them on the EFI's, it is the straight inline one. Pretty common on most all late stuff I have several on the shelf.
