Default 496 Ho ?

Will the 496 HO directly replace a Gen VI 502 MPI? If not, what changes would have to be made?

I did the opposite. Put in a 502 , took out the 496. Everything fit fine for me. Only problem I had was had to move holes in transom a little bit. You should be OK if your just running the rubber exhaust hose, as it will bend over. Check how much room you have in front of your 502. I think the 496 is an inch or so longer, so make sure you have room.

Revd Up- Why did you go from a newer 496 to an older 502? Seems like the newer technology would be better.

I went from a 454 Mag to a 496HO. Like RU said, it's slightly longer and higher. I'm using stock exhaust with rubber hose, no trouble there.

I'm pleased with my 496.
