Morton Marine in Owasso?
#1
Anybody have or heard of any info on Morton Marine in Owasso? I'm considering having them winterize my boat since they are close to home. They are a mercruiser dealer, but their main business is bass boats. I guess I'm just a bit shy for my first winterization, and I want to take it to someone who will do a good job.

Just the engine right? No freshwater system? Real easy to do. Change the oil, filter and fuel filter, remove the thermostat, get 5 gal bucket and fill with pink RV antifreeze, place muffs on outdrive and place hose in antifreeze. Start engines and run 5 gallons of antifreeze through engine until pink is coming out of the exhaust. Add fuel stabilizer and put boat away for winter.
Next year put new thermostat in, fill up with gas, drop in the water and have fun. If you want to try it yourself, let me know and I will drive up to
Owasso to help you out.
To answer your question, I do not know anything about Morton Marine.

So even with the anti freeze in the engine, just go run it on the lake? Don't they frown upon that, or is the anti-freeze environmentally friendly?
To change the oil, one needs a drill driven pump to pull the oil out the dipstick tube, correct?
I am not opposed to doing it myself, but I would definitely appreciate some help Matt. I may take you up on your offer. I can provide the beer!

To change the oil you can use a drill driven pump, a vacuum pump or if there is room under your engine, just get to the drain plug.

What all is involved in removing the lower from a Bravo one? I need to get the skeg repaired, and I would feel better about leaving a lower unit rather than the whole boat to get that done.
Am I correct in assuming it is a fairly easy thing to do? It looks like just 4 or 6 bolts if my memory serves me correctly. Is there any sort of aligning or set-up procedure to replce the unit, or is it a simple bolt on? I guess what I;m asking is is it worthwhile to spend an hour to remove it and another hour to replace it, or is it some kind of project that has a process to be followed like setting up gears?
