Default Jeapardy question for Baja gurus.

I need to see if any of you Baja guys can figure out what kind of boat I am describing.

Here's the skinny......Buddy of mine calls me today telling me about a boat that a customer of his just bought. (he knows I'm into offshore boats) He was telling me about the details on it but something doesn't add up to me. See if you can make anything out from the info he gave me. He did say it was in fact a Baja.

Said it was 30' in length
Twin 600SC engines
Sleeps six in cabin
110 mph
Cost was $250,000

Nothing adds up to me. Any ideas?

Buck,

"What is the Baja 30 Outlaw?"

If it is a Baja it would have to be the 30 Outlaw.

30 Feet = YES
Twin 600 SC's = YES
Sleeps Six in Cabin = YES and VERY crowded
110 MPH = On Paper - The one that they have built with 600's is VERY squirley in the 90's
Cost was $250,000 = Probably about right

Dock, that was my thinking too.

I have never been in the cabin of one, but six people sleeping seemed steep for any performance boat.

For some reason that speed seemed a little generous to me. But then again I'm no expert.

The price seemed a little off the hook to me. I can easily see how those engines could get the price up there. No offenese to anyone here in the Baja forum, but I didn't see the value in a 250k 30' Outlaw. Seemed like a blown up number to me. Why not get a Gun? Not to mention he was "supposed" to have gotten a good deal on the boat for that price.

He is supposed to take the boat by my buddy's shop next week sometime for him to see it. I'll get back here with the details after that.

Remember this boat? http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...d.php?t=130046

I can't imagine too many have been built with 600's

I think your bud was talking about a 30 ft outlaw with big power. I'm doubtful about the 110mph and if your going to squeeze 6 people in the cabin it either needs to be 1 guy and 5 women or 6 midgets ,Smitty

There have only been two 30's with 600's built that I am aware of.

I know there is a 35 w/ 600's being built right now and also a 40 Outlaw with 700's.

The boat came from Ugly John's in Oklahoma. Maybe that will narrow down which boat it is for you guys.

Are you guys saying that real world speed on it is somewhere in the mid 90s then?

PS...I'm gonna call his bluff on the six people in cabin comment. Is this cabin set up any different than any other boat? Does it just have a normal V-Berth and benches? If so, there's no way six are gonna sleep in there.

It's definitely a "Drivers Boat" at 90+ MPH.

I was told by a guy in the know that drove the one delivered to Tennessee that is was scary at 95 MPH.

It would be an awesome boat to own, but you can get hurt in it real quick if you do not respect it.

There is no berth in the 30 Outlaw.

You convert the two benches into a bed.

Two people are okay, four will be VERY crowded and the other two will be in the floor of the cockpit.
