Just pulled the boat out and have some normal scratches, scrapes etc... on the lower drives. I would like to sand blast or remove the black paint and leave them silver. Queston is, can I use some kind of clearcoat over the bare metal or is this a bad idea ? ( I am in salt water also )
Thank you any help would be great

Are you opposed to painting silver? I used paint stripper on mine and just bought some single stage silver and painted it. I thought I heard some where that the bravo's have a plug in them from the foundry, it is flushed off and not visible under paint, but you may see it if is bare.

Spoke to Hidaway Marine today and they said the same thing to paint them silver. If you polish them to a bright silver they actually will have more drag on the drives. the race boats all have the drives kinda rough for the water to flow around the drives better. Good advice I am going to try the silver
