I Have A 91 Scarab 21 Excel And Love It. Handles Well And Is Pretty Fast With 525hp. 70 At 4500rpm Still Waiting On A New Prop So I Can See What She Can Do At 5150rpm.
i have a 1986 22ft chris craft stinger for sale that can be had for almost a third of what you're looking to spend. Put 5k into fixing it up a little, and another 5k back into your wallet.
I had a new '98 Baja 20 Outlaw. Sold it with in 70 days. Crap! Rode terrible and creaked and groaned. I drove it mainly on small bays where the only waves were boat wakes. Too afraid to take it on the Ches Bay. So don't buy one of those.
Bought a new '98 22 Scarab w/ 454. Nice boat. Rode well, handled predictably and felt . . . .right. Well built boat.
Some had a hook at the transom, take that out and you'll gain some MPH.

Some 22 Scarabs have a hook at the transom. Makes the boat ride like trim tabs are down, or like you can get the bow to rise much. Remove this hook (relatively easy) and the boat will gain some speed and feel a little less glued to the water.Originally Posted by yss

To check for a hook, use search. Many posts have been written about it.
Even if the boat has a hook, it is a GREAT 22' boat!!!
