Help:


I have a 1988 quicksilver throttle controller and the trim button for the drive only works once in a while for the UP and fine for the DOWN.Is the switch replaceable or could it be some thing else.The trailer button on the dash works fine when the handle switch doesen't.This is why I think its just the switch.

Could be the switch, could be a wire in the handle that is pinched and broken. The control is pretty easy to take apart and check the wires on. Depending on which control you have, the switch is available, if thats whats bad. About $35

My handle is made by quicksilver and the switch is on top,recessed into the handle,but facing straight up.This in on my 1988 Formula 206 LS.

I had the same problem on my 26 scarab. Pop the top off the handle and the switch comes right out. I cleaned the wire terminals and shot a little WD down the switch button and things have been fine all season.

I had the exact problem, but mine had to do with the trim control on the outdrive. Had to be replaced. The reason why the trailer switch works is because it has nothing to do with the module on the outdrive. That is why you'll still hear the trim pump still going when the trim is up to its max (only if you keep puching the trailer botton). Specially if the switch on the control lever works going down and not up. I say its the trim module on the outdrive...

Also could be the bell housing side pivot pin has worked loose, changing the switch contact location. A buddy's boat had his pin loosen up a few times. Could always tell because his trim acted up exactly as yours is. It was hit and mis because the pin would loosen/ tighten as he trimmed the drive up and down, until the pin finally turned enough to not work at all.

Just an idea if the switch itself proves fine.
