Looks like the float switch may be out on my boat. Stopped to get something to eat for about an hour. Thought i would hit the bilge pump to see if there was any water in the bilge.

It ran for about 20 to 30 seconds pumping water out of the bilge. I sure thought it would come on way before me hitting the switch to get the water out.

Anyone have a wiring schematic of how it should be wired or working properly? I thought it was more water than what should be in there. I'm still going to take a look at the upper bellows to see if its leaking between the outdrive assemble and stellings extension box.

Sometimes there is enough water for the pump to prime and pump water , but not quite enough for the auto switch to run the pump. You are right though, that sounds like close to enough water for the auto to kick in. Most of the switch's has a lever, or a mechanical override right on the switch to test the electrical contacts of the switch. What type auto switch do you have? The bellows is a common area of leaking, and of course all the thru hull fittings you might have.
