I just finished, I hope, a 3 week diagnosis of a dead fuel pump. Apparantly, the MEFI4A ECU that Whipple and others have used has a weakness in the driver, (part of the ECU), that keeps the fuel pump talking to the rest of the electronic circuit . Delphi, a bankrupt division of GM, makes these things. Go Figure.
The symptoms are an EFI fuel pump that will not activate when the key is turned on. This has been a word that equals a female dog.
Eric Betty at EB Marine in Nashville has been instrumental in diagonising this problem. Tyler Crockett, who reprogrammed another MEFI4A for me, says it in something that shows up too often. DEAD BOATS ARE BETTER THAN DEAD AIRPLANES.
