Default Anyone have the new 07 Avalanche?

I was wondering if anyone has one or is looking at the '07 Chevy 4wd Avalanche? I think the new look has greatly improved from the years before. I have a '04 2500HD CC/Duramax/4wd and I just don't tow really heavy trailers near as much anymore and I kinda like the idea of the covered and large trunk/bed/open bed options. Does any one know what they are getting for mileage? I think that only have one engine and tranny option. They do have the 3:73 or 4:10 gear option.

Thanks, Ben

It does only come with the 5.3L V8.
(There is mention of the 6.0L on the website on the 'Trailering Tab' but no apparent option or way to build & price it. Perhaps special order/consult your dealer.) The 5.3 w/ the 4.10 is plenty peppy, and it tows fair. HOWEVER, the truck does have coil-rear springs, so there is no way I would tow more than 4000 or so lbs. without rear air-bag suspension.

There is no more 2500 model.

3.73 rear axle is standard.
4.10 rear axle is optional.

These are the mileage numbers off of Chevy.com:

2WD (gasoline) 15/21
2WD FlexFuel (E85) 11/15
4x4 (gasoline) 15/20
4x4 FlexFuel (E85) 12/16

www.edmunds.com usually has fuel mileage numbers that are dead on.

Its a nice truck. I used to own a 2500 w/ the 8.1L, and it towed 12,000ish lbs. adequately. I'd buy another current model if it was feasible as a daily driver.

Not 100% sure but IF U went w/ the Caddy version, it does offer a larger engine and poss. a better tranny! Good luck! Wrink

What would the 4:10 do to the mileage? I would assume cut it back a little bit because of the higher revs? True?

My brother in law drives a 2003 4x4 w/ the 5.3 and the 4.10.
I will ask him what he gets.

The 4.10 will result in a couple hundred more RPM at cruise speeds. Its DEFINITELY worth having the 4.10 even if the mileage is decreased. The truck needs the punch to get off the line when you want to move in a hurry (i.e. in an emergency situation).

Free flowing exhaust and free flowing intake will regain you a small amount of mileage.

Definetly get the 4.10, the 3.73 results in the engine lugging at normal highway speeds when towing (65mph) wish I had gone that route on my Tahoe.

I've had three 5.3's..

2 w/3.73's, 1 w/4.10's

4.10 got 1 mpg less on the road, 1 mpg better in town, than the 3.73 rigs

4.10's fer sure... especially with the new 17" tire combo

Talked to my brother-in-law... His 2003 with the 5.3, 4WD, and 4.10 gets 16mpg daily driving, which is a mix of city/hwy commute. He said he has looked at the new ones, and the internet boards, and the the new ones are getting slightly better.

Check out www.chevyavalanchefanclub.com Its the OSO of the Avalanche. They literally can take each truck apart bolt by bolt and help you with any questions.

I found out that you can "special" order the '07's with the 6.0L engine. They then have over 300 HP.
